History

In November 2001, a group of decision makers from the federal and provincial governments and the volunteer sector formed an association which is committed to bringing about a transformation in the way in which programs and services are accessed by Canadian seniors, their families, caregivers and supporting service organizations. The Seniors Canada On-line Web site is a visible result of what collaboration across governments can achieve. Over time, the membership of the Canadian Seniors Partnership continues to expand.

Vision

To provide Seniors with easy access to a new citizen centred government service delivery process for the 21st century. There will be a cooperative focus for services and programs for Seniors which will transform the way assistance is delivered and will ensure citizens have straightforward access to programs and services information when the contact is made by telephone, in-person, mail or by the Internet.

Objectives

• Build new service delivery partnerships amongst governments and non-government organizations that will meet the needs of seniors in the 21st century;
• Collectively address issues related to integrated service amongst governments;
• Provide a forum for greater understanding of existing projects in order to share common understanding and foster interest;
• Pursue a common approach to achieve multichannel service delivery;
• Create a network of service providers dedicated to meaningful change;
• Develop an integrated focus for senior services that respects the National Framework on Aging and other Federal/Provincial/Territorial agreements.

Performance Targets

• Connect seniors' portals across Canada;
• Create collaborative service transformation pilots to improve service delivery to seniors;
• Enlarge the participating membership and enhance the impact of the partnership.

Roles of the Partnership Members

• Obtain organizational / political sponsorship and to share the vision within their organizations vertically and horizontally;
• Share lessons learned and link, where appropriate, their program delivery infrastructures;
• Build a common access and interface model to simplify and enhance services to seniors;
• Contribute resources as their means permit (staff, expertise, facilities, etc), where a partner has chosen to participate in a project;

The CSP goal is to add all the provinces and territories to the Governing Council. Those who have not yet signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) are considered participants and are welcome to attend quarterly meetings, planning events and to involve themselves in collaborative projects

How to become a Partnership Member and part of something special?

It's easy ... come to meetings and get involved. Members are asked to show their commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU is designed to solidify relationships and encourage continued commitment to collaboration and cooperation.

Seniorsinfo.ca was launched October 31, 2003 as a jointly developed Seniors' Portal. Leading the development were: Ontario Seniors Secreteriat, Seniors Canada On-line and the City of Brockville, Ontario.

Local seniors, Veterans and Community Organizations were actively involved. The result is links to information and services from all three levels of government as well as certain community based agencies serving the Leeds/Grenville areas.

Now no matter which "door" or Portal to the Web you use, there will always be information available that is tailored to Brockville and surrounding areas. The goal is to join up local and community information from every municipality in the country. Please take a moment to visit www.Seniorsinfo.ca
